Doreen Hendrikx is a student with a passion for everything that has to do with words - her debut novel Zout will be published by Pelckmans in 2021. She is also a talented spoken word artist who wants to conquer every stage possible.

Wanting to combine both genres of expression in present settings, she uses social media to that end. There, she tries to be transparent and honest about how her process works and what she struggles with. On Instagram she shares her passion for (young adult) literature, slam poetry, and writing, while on Tiktok she explores what intersectionality means to her identity, her mental health, and her recent diagnosis of ADHD and autism.

Her work explicitly deals with these intersections. She tries to be open about and drag people into her world - to raise awareness about mental health, about lgbtqia+, about being neurodiverse, and so many other things that are not talked about enough.

Her debut novel Zout follows Maud, a seventeen-year-old who is challenged to immerse herself in the world of Instagram for an entire year and the subsequent effects social media have on her self-image. Zout is soon out and ready for preorder in most bookstores in Belgium and the Netherlands.
