Ursulline
Ursulline studied illustration at ESA Saint-Luc Brussels. She worked on a children's literature book involving female body hair and bearded ladies. Since then, she has continued to work on themes related to body, gender and relationship intimacy with genuine enthusiasm and a high level of motivation.
She enjoys lively drawings, small details, the play of light and shades as well as nature scenery sketches.
She has designed educational tools for the Federation of Pluralist Family Planning Centres (FCPPF) and also published in children's magazines among other things.
Body of Work
Currently, her aim is to try and go beyond the usual stereotypes around lesbian sexuality and the way it is commonly depicted. These portrayals seem rather poor in her opinion, and often quite far from her own experience and perception of reality. She is striving to reclaim them in an inclusive fashion, with feeling and emotions, while keeping a certain degree of lightness and fancifulness that fiction allows.
Her drawings are born out of an investigation from a collective memory through the lesbian subculture - via letters, essays, novels, animations, short and feature films, images, etc., made by queer women from the past and the present.
Upcoming event
These illustrations accompanied by short stories are, in the meanwhile, slowly taking the form of a book.
Some of these drawings will be exhibited at the Rainbow House Brussels for the L-Festival as soon as it reopens.
